In the wake of Northern Ireland MP Iris Robinson’s remarks about homosexuality, the gay rights group OutRage! is encouraging gay men in the country to publicly out any member of the Democratic Unionist party (DUP) they have slept with.
“We have always supported the protection of people’s privacy who lead a double life, where they are gay but maybe still have a family,” said David Allison, spokesman for the group. “However in circumstances where you are a member of a political party which openly espouses homophobia than we think it is entirely justifiable that members of that party be outed.”
“That is certainly so with the DUP. It’s already happened to them before and they still have learned no lessons.”
According to The Guardian, a gay scandal hit the DUP three years ago when a rising star politician named Paul Berry was accused of having sex with a male masseur at a Belfast hotel. Berry denied the encounter, claiming he only sought a sports massage.
